About Dreamy

I stumbled into voice acting as a teenager and I've been fortunate enough to continue that work since.  Sometimes I've had more and sometimes less, but I've always been a voice somewhere.

In my twenties, I went to college to study English and Communications, not knowing which I was more interested in.   While I was still in school, one of my bosses at a company I recorded for discovered what my major was and encouraged me by offering me some writing work.  From there, my writing career began.

I was able to make a modest, but steady income writing everything from articles for periodicals to social media and blog posts, and life was forever interesting because of it.

While writing for other people I learned about things I'd never have imagined studying.. like the pros and cons of white ink tattoos, to the histoy of tea in Kenya.

So it was, that in 2022, I stumbled upon the ASMR Roleplay genre of videos on Youtube when I fell asleep listenign to an audiobook of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and woke up listening to an original reimagining of the story, written and voiced by Pebbles ASMR. enjoyment.

That was the day I discovered a world of creative people who were writing their own stories, or getting scripts from other creative people around the web, and recording them for their followers' entertainment and relaxation. I immediately knew this was within my wheelhouse, but also recognized that this was a fast-growing genre and the demand for it was currently outpacing the supply.

All of my copywriting for other people had taught me a little bit of how to find good subjects to write about when trying to catch the attention of big Daddy Google.. and the ASMR Roleplay genre was just packed full of potential.

I quietly created a channel without telling anyone and spent a couple of months putting out just a video or two a week to test my theory.  Sure enough, my channel grew with no real advertising or promotion.  And on a platform where most channels will never gather one hundred followers, I found I'd collected a good deal more than that.

With this information in hand, I called the most brilliant marketer I know, Xena Alexander.  Aside from being an insanely creative marketer, Xena also has a voice that can melt butter, and I was certain this would be something she'd not only do, but do well, and enjoy herself along the way.

On that call, I told Xena "I'm about to do the most machiavellian thing I've ever done in my life.  I'm going to show you something, and you're going to do it, and then I'm going to watch you make a success of it and then copy what you do so that I can ride your coattails to glory!  And what's more, even knowing what my intentions are, you're still going to do it because it's fun and it will make you money."

And true to my word, here we are.  Xena and I have two rapidly growing channels and we are constantly brainstorming new ideas and hatching new plans to take over the world together.  ..and I never expected anything less when I hitched my horse to her cart.

What I could never have foreseen though, is the communities I've seen grow beneath us. Starting out, I never imagined how the people who came to listen to my audios would become such an integral part of my, and each other's lives.  People from across the globe have become friends in my Discord server and in my comments.  Multiple couples from the community have begun dating.  Friends from the group have gotten together to go on road trips.  And we've been there for each other through weddings and funerals, hook-ups and break-ups, and supported each other through many ups and downs.

I could not be prouder.. not of myself, but of the amazing community that's come together under my name.  I would love to take credit for it, but it really isn't my doing.  The culture was set by those first few followers, who were so welcoming and friendly.  All I did was watch it grow and try to not mess things up.

And that brings me to today.. feeling incredibly thankful for the day I fell asleep listening to an old audiobook on YouTube and discovered a community of people who would become friends.
